Rebekah
McGhee, Artistic Director

Rebekah has been a handbell enthusiast for the past 19 years. She
was introduced to handbells at Grand Canyon University. She joined the
handbell choir because she had to have an ensemble credit for her degree and
handbells was an instrument she'd never tried before. As soon as she
picked up a bell, she was hooked. She owes her love and passion for
handbells to her first director, Nancy Clauter. It was while she was
under Nancy's direction that Rebekah arranged her first handbell piece. Dona Nobis/Silent Night, which can be heard on Sonoran Bells' Sonoran
Holiday. She rang with Sonoran Bells from 2001-2002.
Rebekah is a graduate of Grand Canyon University with a B.A. in Christian
Studies and Theatre. She has directed junior high and high school
handbell choirs at Northwest Community Christian School in Phoenix, and she has
served as the director of music for contemporary worship services in different
congregations in Tucson. Along with being an accomplished musician
and composer, Rebekah has written and directed several theatrical productions in
Tucson, and two of her plays have recently been published by CSS Publishing
Company and Lillenas Publishing Company. After an eight year absence,
she is very excited to again be involved with Sonoran Bells as its Artistic Director.
