Meg Villanueva . . .

has been playing music for a very long time.  In fact, she learned to read music before she learned to read books!  She has been active in performance groups--both vocal and instrumental--through elementary, junior high, high school, college, and also in community groups.  She plays the violin, recorders, and enough piano to pound out notes, but performing in vocal music has always been her love.  She trained privately for many years, and has performed in choirs and as a soloist.

Bells came into Meg's life in 1975.  She has played in a semi-professional group and traveled across the country performing.  She also was active in her church choir, as well as subbing for bell choirs throughout the city.  She conducted a church bell choir for two years before coming to Tucson, where she discovered Sonoran Bells.  Meg played in Sonoran for part of the 2007/08 season, until eye surgery forced her to go on medical leave.  She is excited to be back and looks forward to ringing into the new decade with Sonoran Bells!

In her personal life, Meg is the mother of 4 (ages 30 to 16) and grandmother of 10!  She is a Spanish teacher at Salpointe Catholic High School and enjoys reading, writing, composing, and dancing Salsa de la rueda.  She has traveled throughout the US, as well as to England, Italy, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.  She would love to take her son to England when he graduates from high school in 2 years, but if not that, then maybe New York.  She looks forward to that graduation, so she can finally find out what it's like to have an empty nest.  Of course, her nest will never quite be empty because there will always be at least one Pug to help fill it.
