JoAnn Luther. . . .believes that she first picked up a handbell in 1993, and is proud to have been one of the " founding members" of Sonoran Bells. She is a member of the handbell choir at St. Mark's United Methodist Church and has directed the children's handbell choir there as well. Although JoAnn always seems to have fun with the bass bells, she says she especially likes ringing B4-C5 (top of the bass) or D5-E5 (bottom of the treble), yet we would never consider an "outsider." Besides handbells, her musical background includes singing and piano.JoAnn originally hails from Reading, Pennsylvania, but she has spent most of her life in Tucson and has developed many close personal relationships during her career (over 35 years) as a much-in-demand hairstylist. In her limited free time, she loves working in her yard and entertaining friends. One of her favorite pastimes is simultaneously cooking, watching TV, and drinking beer. She likes to spend time with her husband Allan, her son Riley, who is a chemist, and Riley’s dog Freckles (whom JoAnn prefers to call "Dixie the Tiny Dog"). Although the farthest she has been from Tucson is Kaui, Hawaii (on her honeymoon), she would like to travel extensively all over the "lower 48" in a big RV. If she struck it rich in Las Vegas, she says she would work on her black belt in shopping, remodel her kitchen & bathrooms, and then enjoy her home. |
